Her ability to guide both clients and fellow tax professionals reflects not only her technical skill, but also her patience and strong communication style. She credits much of her success and long-standing career to her ability to listen carefully and work well with clients, building trust through attentive and thoughtful service.

Ms. Musselman entered the tax profession through practical beginnings. Needing a job and already familiar with preparing her own taxes since college, she saw tax preparation as a natural fit. That decision marked the start of a long and successful career. She completed H&R Block’s 13-week training program and went on to deepen her expertise through ongoing education. To stay current in a field that is always changing, she regularly attends annual CBT computer classes as well as advanced instructor training courses.

Her dedication to learning has helped establish her as an expert in state and business tax preparation, as well as Canadian taxes. Among her honors is the Most Valuable Professional Award from H&R Block, a distinction that reflects her outstanding contributions and consistent excellence in the field.

Before building her long career in tax preparation, Ms. Musselman developed a strong academic and scientific foundation in botany and plant pathology. In 1961, she discovered a new species of plant, the Penstemon flowersii, a remarkable achievement that speaks to her careful observation, curiosity, and dedication to research. She earned a bachelor’s degree in botany from Utah State University in 1962, followed by a master’s degree in plant pathology from the same institution in 1964.

Although her professional path later shifted toward the tax industry, her connection to the botanical sciences has remained strong. She continues to stay involved with the Utah Plant Society, maintaining an active interest in the field that first shaped her academic and professional identity. Her life’s work reflects a rare blend of scientific accomplishment and service-based expertise, showing her ability to grow and excel across very different disciplines.

Looking ahead, Ms. Musselman hopes to continue developing in both of her areas of passion. Whether through her ongoing work in tax preparation or her enduring interest in botany, she remains committed to learning, contributing, and growing.
