Dr. Maddahi is internationally recognized as a leader and expert in cardiovascular disease research, teaching and patient care.  He is a Professor (Level VII) of Medicine (Cardiology) and Molecular and Medical Pharmacology (Nuclear Medicine) at UCLA School of Medicine and Director of Biomedical Imaging Institute.  He began his pioneering research in Nuclear Cardiology in 1977 and extended it to cardiac Positron Emission Tomography (PET).  His research has benefited patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease worldwide.  He has authored over 200 original research articles, abstracts and book chapters.  He has trained many physicians in the subspecialties of cardiology and nuclear medicine.  His expertise is widely sought after at national and international scientific conferences leading to over 1200 lectures worldwide.  Dr. Maddahi is a high profile cardiovascular consultant and is highly regarded by his patients for this knowledge and compassion.  The main emphasis of his patient care is prevention of heart attack and stroke.  He is the Founding member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and Society of Cardiac CT, Member of the American Heart Association, and Society of Nuclear Medicine and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.  Dr. Maddahi has received several awards including: Best Doctors in America, Who’s Who in Medicine & Healthcare, Who are The Best 2000 Doctors in No. America, UCLA Faculty Teaching Award, the Norman D. Poe Scholarship Award, Distinguished Scientist Award, the Herman Blumgart Award, Distinguished Lecturer Winfield Evan Memorial and Taplin Memorial and the Homi Bhabha Award for Outstanding Contributions to Nuclear Cardiology.
