Palm Bay, FL WW/Press/October 6, 2017 – Bishop Johnnie R. Lewinson with Greater Palm Bay Church of God was recognized as a Top Professional of North America – 2017-2018 – by The Who’s Who Directories.
The accomplishments and achievements attained by Bishop Johnnie R. Lewinson in the field of Religious Organizations with the Greater Palm Bay Church of God warrants inclusion into the Top Professional of North America. In the summer of 1989 while living in Stuart, Florida, Bishop Lewinson and Sister Lewinson, his wife, were directed by the Lord to plant a church in Palm Bay. Because it was not yet a city and was not listed on the map, not many people heard about Palm Bay. In obedience to God’s call, Dr. Lewinson founded Greater Palm Bay Church of God, a multi-cultural congregation, holding services in three languages (English, Creole and Spanish) every Sunday, and a weekly Bible class. The ministries that the church provides are Women’s Ministry, The Life Builders Men’s Ministry, New Era Youth Group, Kings Kidz, and Christian Education. Their mission is to be a united body of believers who become mature in Christ and actively engaged in evangelism as a lifestyle, in order to reach all people with the gospel of Christ and provide meaningful fellowship and training for the extension of the Kingdom of God.
Bishop John R Lewinson, who is Ordained Bishop of the Church of God was born in Jamaica W.I. where he was born again as a child began to preach shortly thereafter. A graduate of Bethel Bible College, upon graduation he began pastoring when men thought he was not old enough to pastor. He pioneered several churches there. Pastor Lewinson served in several capacities, such as National youth Director; District Overseer, and other elected boards. His ministry opened doors as, Bible College instructor, and keynote speaker at national and international conventions, conferences and seminars.
To keep up with his personal goal, he continued his education at extension schools of Lee University and Moody Bible Institute and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He did advanced studies in Leadership (Church of God Theological Seminary) receiving a master of Science in Religious Education, Doctorate in Theology and a Doctorate in Divinity.
He has ministered in England, Canada, the Caribbean island, the Bahamas and Cayman Islands and, across the USA. John R Lewinson is responsible for planting the first English speaking church of God in the city of Boston, Massachusetts.
Bishop Lewinson is married to the love of his life Leanora, who along with working as a RN case manager at a local hospital, assists fully in the ministry. She serves as Christian Education director and Womens’ Ministries coordinator. They are blessed with three children who are currently serving the Lord and is involved in ministry. They have 9 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Pastor Lewinson has received several awards a missional leadership Certificate from the Church of God Theological Seminary and a Diploma of Recognition for four years study from the Bible Institute for Ministerial Enrichment through the department of General Education of the Church of God, but his heart’s desire is “so that all may hear.”
